Recently abandoned nest of Ostrich (Struthio camelus) in open grassy savanna of Paradise Plain in the northern Masai Mara Game Reserve,Kenya. A large clutch of eggs was being tended by a male and female ostrich only a few days before this picture was taken. The most likely explanation is human predation,in which poachers take the eggs, empty them, and sell the intact shells for the equivalent of 20 US dollars per shell (2007) | |
