Bay pipefish. Bay pipefish (Syngnathus leptorhynchus) camouflaged amongst reeds. It aligns itself with the reeds to make it difficult for predators to see it. The imitation of plants by animals is known as phytomimesis. This fish may reach a third of a metre in length,but is always very thin.
