Banded Garden Spider (Argiope trifasciata). Female wrapping prey (Locust borer beetle,Megacyllene robineae). Note the spinnerets at the tip of the abdomen releasing a wide swath of silk to wrap the beetle. The silk is played out with the spiders hind legs, while the spider uses its other legs to rotate the prey. When the prey is fully wrapped and unable to harm the spider, she will bite the prey to paralyze it | |
