Wolf spider. Macrophotograph of a wolf spider (Lycosa sp.) eating a house fly (Musca domestica). These quick spiders have excellent eyesight and use their large fanged mouthparts to inflict a venomous bite. The bite causes localised tissue death in humans. This is a lycosid spider and so has its eyes arranged in three rows: a small lower set of four eyes; two larger eyes above this and a pair of eyes on the side of the head (not seen).
