Flower beetle (Pseudochalcothea sp.) specimen. The beetle has two pairs of wings; a pair of forewings (elytra),which are brightly coloured and protect the hindwings, which it uses to fly with (not seen). As the name suggests, the flower beetle feeds upon flowers. The larvae are C-schaped and can be found in the soil, where they feed on the roots of plants and other organic matter. This can lead to serious damage and therefore this beetle is considered an agricultural pest | |
