Sea anemone. White-spotted rose anemone (Tealia lofotensis). This is a marine organism which lives in coastal waters, attaching itself to rocks or other hard surfaces. Sea anemones may spend months in one position if the conditions are good. They eat small fish and crustaceans which they kill with venom from their tentacles. After digesting their prey, waste is expelled through the mouth. Due to their venomous nature, sea anemones have few natural predators, but certain fish and other marine animals seem to be immune to the venom and devour them anyway.
