Expedition 14 Commander Michael Lopez-Alegria. Lopez-Alegria,Flight Engineer Mikhail Tyurin and Spaceflight Participant Charles Simonyi landed safely southwest of Karaganda,Kazakhstan at 8:31 a.m. EDT on Saturday,April 21,2007. Expedition-14 was launched from Baikonour aboard a Soyuz spacecraft,and returned to land in the steppes of Kazakhstan,concluding a 215-day mission and marking the longest single flight by an American Astronaut. During the 6-month tour of duty aboard the International Space Station the crew performed a variety of experiments in human life sciences,physical sciences,Earth observations and education and technology demonstrations. Lopez-Alegria accumulated a total of 33 hours and 42 minutes of EVA time in 5 spacewalks. Suni Williams,who had been a member of Expedition 14 since December,remains on the station with Expedition 15 until this summer |
