Globular star cluster NGC 5139. This globular star cluster appears larger then the Full Moon in the night sky. It is the largest of the globular star clusters in our galaxy, and much larger than most other globular star clusters. It is found in the constellation of Centaurus, and is designated as Omega Centauri, one of the 'stars' that makes up the constellation. It contains millions of stars in a volume about 150 light years across. It is thought that it could be the remnant of a galaxy that merged with the Milky Way. It is 16,000 light years from Earth.
