The black dots are glycogen,scatt- ered among several mitochondria (oval bodies) & the tubular network of endoplasmic reticulum. Glycogen,a polysaccharide,is the form in which carbohydrates are stored in an animal cell. It is broken down to yield glucose,& the further break down of the glucose releases energy. Carbohydrates are stored primarily in the liver & muscles,although deposits of glycogen may also be found in other types of cells
