This cluster of snowflakes shows signs of connected growth. The left and right branches of the central crystal have slower growth because of their proximity to the other crystals,which must have attached themselves at some point during the crystal formation. The lower right snowflake is a capped column variety which was formed in the same storm system. When printed at 10cm wide,the magnification factor of the image is 18x. The largest crystal measures 3.6mm in diameter at the longest point.
