This contrast-enhanced,coronal (from the front),T1-weighted MR image through the orbits and ethmoid sinuses reveals a heterogeneously enhancing mass with focal bone destruction and extension into the medial left orbit with mild lateral displacement of the medial rectus muscle. The tumour shows less prominent enhancement than surrounding normal mucosa. This represents a squamous cell carcinoma,which accounts for 80% of malignancies in the sino-nasal region. Less common malignancies include adenocarcinoma,adenoid cystic carcinoma,lymphoma and melanoma
