This colour-enhanced,3D Volume Rendered superior to inferior view of the skull in a child with trigonocephaly shows a frontal ridge along the forehead (near the top of the image) caused by premature closure (fusion) of the metopic suture. The term used for premature closure of the cranial sutures is craniosynostosis. The most common suture which prematurely fuses is the sagital suture. The anterior fontanelle and the coronal suture can be clearly seen in this image
