This sagittal (from the side) CT reconstruction of the cervical spine shows a distracted horizontal fracture through the C6 vertebral body (yellow arrows),including the flowing osteophytes along the anterior vertebral bodies and anterior longitudinal ligament. Chance fractures involve all 3 columns of the spine and result from flexion-distraction injuries.
