This frontal projection from a magnetic resonance angiogram of the brain demonstrates the large high-flow AVM in the temporal lobe (on viewers left) with the large round ball-like collection of blood vessels representing the nidus of the AVM. Multiple early draining veins from the AVM are present with the largest draining from the top of the nidus superiorly (towards the top of the image) to the superior sagital sinus. AVMs are dangerous because of there potential for hemorrhage (bleeding) but they can also result in strokes, seizures, headaches and even death | |
