This sagittal MRI image demonstrates that the intracranial contents are sagging downward. There is inferior displacement of the posterior fossa contents into the region of the foramen magnum. This is caused by low CSF pressure. Intracranial hypotension can be caused by a spontaneous CSF leak or after a lumbar puncture with continued CSF leakage. The intracranial contents look as if they are under low pressure with a sagging appearance. The dura is often thickened and shows abnormal enhancement | |
