American Robin (Turdus migratorius) hatchlings normal incubation period is about 11-13 days. Robins, like many songbirds, take a shorter time than other birds because they are small-sized and hatch with many of their features not fully developed. Unlike chicks and ducklings that hatch with feathers to keep themselves warm and are able to eat on their own, baby Robins are fully dependent on their parents for food and warmth. When the eggs hatch, the parent will continue to keep the hatchlings warm, find food for itself and also feed the hungry hatchlings. Ludlow,MA | |
