An egg mass of the Red-eyed Tree Frog (Agalychnis callidryas). This species is also known as Red-eyed Leaf Frog and Gaudy Leaf Frog. The arboreal frog descends to breeding pools during the mating season. Eggs are laid and fertilized by a mating pair of frogs on the undersides of leaves near the breeding pool. After about eight days the embryos emerge from the eggs as tadpoles which drop into the pool below | |
