Pollination. Macrophotograph of a bumble bee (Bombus sp.) on a red clover flower (Trifolium pratense). Insects such as this bee feed on the sugary fluid (nectar) and pollen found in flowers. The bee is attracted to the flower by its bright colouration. By reaching inside the flower to gather the nectar with its tube-like proboscis, the bee may become dusted with pollen. The bee may also brush pollen from another flower onto this flower's reproductive organs causing cross- pollination. Magnification unknown | |
