Saguaro cactus (Carnegiea gigantea). Saguaro cacti are among the largest cacti in the world. They can grow up to 15 metres in height, and may have as many as 50 'arms'. Like many cacti, the saguaro blooms at night, relying on moths, bats and birds for pollination. Cacti are succulent plants, which store water in their stems. This allows them to survive in arid environments. Photographed at Organ Pipe National Monument,Arizona,USA | |
