Male gerenuk gazelle (Litocranius walleri) on african savannah. Gerenuks are a type of East African gazelle measuring around 150 cm long from head to tail. Gerenuk comes from the Somali language, meaning 'giraffe-necked' as they have remarkably long necks. Gerenuks feed mainly on tender leaves and shoots of prickly bushes and trees, but also buds, flowers, fruit, and climbing plants. Photographed in Kenya in September | |
