| Nine-banded armadillo (Dasypus novemcinctus) in grass. This omnivorous mammal is found in South America,but its range has steadily been expanding into North America and the southern USA. It has a distinctive banded turtle-like shell (carapace),and a long snout that is used with its front feet for digging.
