Mareeba rock-wallaby (Petrogale mareeba). This species of rock-wallaby is found in northern Queensland,Australia. It is nocturnal, but is more active just before sunrise and sunset. It inhabits rocky, rugged terrain. The population of this species is in decline, but is under-going conservation breeding programs to prevent extinction. Diseases such as toxoplasmosis and hydatidosis and the destruction of natural habitat is considered to be partially responsible for the decline in numbers. It is also easy prey for many predators.
