Savannah sparrow (Passerculus sandwichensis) perched on lupin flowers (Lupinus sp.) carrying an insect in its beak. This bird is found from Alaska through Canada and central and western USA to Mexico and Guatemala. Northern populations migrate south for the winter. The Pacific and Mexican birds are resident,but others migrate in winter to southern USA. It feeds mainly on seeds,but will also eat insects during the breeding season.
