Trumpeter hornbill (Ceratogymna bucinator) showing the large curved casque of horn on top of its bill. The horn is slightly smaller in females than in males. This hornbill can measure 65 centimetres in length. It communicates with a trumpeting,squealing sound. C. bucinator feeds on fruit and insects in forest,woodland and savannah habitats. It gathers in small flocks. A female lays between two and four eggs in a natural tree hole before sealing herself inside using mud and droppings.
