Madagascar tree boa (Boa manditra) coiled up. The Madagascar tree boa is one of three boa species endemic to Madagascar. It is a non-venomous constrictor, and kills its prey by wrapping around it and squeezing it until it suffocates, before swallowing the animal whole. When holding prey, the snake waits for the animal to breathe out, each time it does, the boa tightens it grip, making it hard for the prey to breathe in again.
