Panther chameleon. Panther chameleon (Furcifer pardalis) on a branch, preparing to catch an insect with its tongue. Chameleons have very long tongues which they rapidly shoot out of their mouth to catch insects. They also have very sharp stereoscopic vision which allows them to precisely target their prey. The tongue has a sticky tip on the end, which sticks to prey and then draws it quickly back into the mouth. Panther chameleons are indigenous to the tropical forests of Madagascar.
