Turtle conservation. Ranger holding freshly laid eggs from a hawksbill turtle (Eretmochelys imbricata). The eggs are relocated to an artificial nest in a hatchery as soon as they are laid to protect them from being dug up by other turtles or monitor lizards. The loss of nesting beaches and the effects of hunting and pollution have endangered some turtle species. Photographed in Turtle Island Marine Park,Pulau Gulisan,Sabah,Malaysia | |
