Sea slug or nudibranch (Chromodoris geminus). Nudibranchs are true slugs that lack a shell. They have naked gills (top) with which they obtain oxygen from the water. Two projections called rhinophores (centre left) are used to sense chemicals in the water. Nudibranchs are carnivorous and may store toxins from their prey in their bodies for use against predators. The bright body colour is a warning that they are poisonous | |
