Wright brothers' glider test. Wilbur Wright, one of the famous Wright brothers, piloting their third test glider. This assisted takeoff, with his brother Orville (left) and a mutual friend (Dan Tate, right),took place in October 1902 at Kill Devil Hill,North Carolina,USA. The glider had an improved rudder that allowed control of the aircraft in three dimensions. These test flights along with wind tunnel experiments allowed them to construct the first ever powered flight aircraft, which they flew at Kitty Hawk in 1903 | |
