MODEL RELEASED. Crash test dummy known as BioRID being adjusted by a technician. BioRID (biofidelic rear impact dummy) was designed for testing in rear-end vehicle impacts. It is used to examine vehicle designs that will prevent neck injuries such as whiplash. The curvature and range of movements of its articulated spine resemble those of a human. BioRID contains instruments to examine the forces it experiences during an impact. The black and white symbols on its head help researchers to track the head's position when they study film of a crash.
