| Micromechanic accelerometer. Coloured scanning electron micrograph of interlocking 'teeth' in a micro-mechanical accelerometer. The 'teeth' are able to move relative to one another & contain inductors,devices which generate an electric current in response to a change in an magnetic field. During a high acceleration or deceleration,the 'teeth' move towards each other,causing a change in the magnetic field. The signal from the inductors is then amplified to activate another system,such as an air-bag in a car.
