Nuclear power station construction. Workers at the upper end of a steam generator for a nuclear power plant, covering it with plastic and fabric to keep it clean during transport to where it will be installed. A steam generator is a large structure (over 20 metres in height) used in pressurized water reactors (PWRs). Pressurized water, heated by the nuclear reactor, enters the lower end. Then a complex system of tubing transfers the heat into a new volume of water that exits through the top end here as steam. The steam is used to drive turbines to generate electricity.
