Space shuttle astroculture. Cress (Arabidopsis thaliana) plants being grown during mission STS-93 on the Space Shuttle Columbia in Earth orbit. The plants were grown to investigate their growth in reduced gravity. This will help future plans for cultivating plants in space. This is part of the first Plant Growth Investigations in Microgravity experiment (PGIM-1). Photographed on 25 July 1999 | |
