Memento on the Moon. The commemorative plaque,left behind on the Moon by the Apollo 17 mission in December 1972. The plaque depicts images of the Earth and the locations of the six Apollo landing sites on the Moon. The plaque is signed by the three crew members of Apollo 17 (left to right): Eugene Cernan (mission commander),Ronald Evans (command module pilot) and Harrison Schmitt (lunar module pilot). It is also signed by the incumbent US president,Richard Nixon. The plaque was fixed to a leg of the Descent Stage of Apollo 17 lander Challenger.
