V-2 rocket reconstruction in the Daily Mirror,1944. British scientists used debris from V-2 attacks to reproduce a diagram of the workings of the rocket. The V-2 was a weapon introduced by Nazi Germany towards the end of the Second World War. It was a major advance in rocket technology, with liquid fuel being used to propel the V-2 into space before falling and hitting its targets at three times the speed of sound. Almost 1500 such rockets landed on Britain in the latter stages of the war | |
