Bubble nebula (NGC 7635),optical image. The bubble that gives this nebula its name is caused by a massive central star which emits a fast stellar wind of ionised gas. This pushes the surrounding material outwards into an expanding shell or bubble, which glows as it is energised by radiation from the star. The nebula is about six light years across, and lies approximately 11,000 light years from Earth in the constellation Cassiopeia | |
