Star cluster Mel-15 in the emission nebula IC 1805. This cluster of hot young stars formed from the coalescence of the gas in the nebula. The radiation from stars then ionises the remaining hydrogen gas in the nebula, causing it to emit this characteristic red light. The cluster and nebula lie around 7500 light years from Earth in the constellation Cassiopeia | |
