Annular solar eclipse. Image 14 of 14. Full Sun seen after an annular solar eclipse. The Moon (not seen) has finished moving across the Sun. This process takes several hours, and at the midpoint may result in a partial, full or annular eclipse. In this case, the Moon is at a distant point in its orbit, and this resulted in an annular eclipse where the outer edge of the Sun formed a ring around the Moon. In this location,in Tunisia, the eclipse took place over three hours from 08:00 to 11:00,on 3 October 2005. For a sequence showing the progress of the Moon across the Sun during this eclipse, see images R506/432 to R506/445. This image can also be used at the start of this sequence | |
