Titan's surface. Cassini spacecraft radar image of the surface of Titan,Saturn's largest moon. This image is centred on a crater that measures 60 kilometres in diameter. The brighter the surface appears, the more rugged the terrain. It is thought the crater was created by the impact of a hypervelocity comet or asteroid around 5-10 kilometres in diameter. The Cassini-Huygens spacecraft was launched in 1997 to investigate Saturn, its rings and its moons. This image was taken on 15 February 2005 | |
