Titan's surface. Cassini space probe radar image of part of the surface of Titan,Saturn's largest moon. The image covers an area about 250 by 478 kilometres in Titan's northern hemisphere. It is thought that the brighter areas are rough terrain, and the darker areas are smoother terrain. These markings have been said to resemble a cat. It is thought that the dark area at centre left could be a liquid. There are theories that there may be oceans of liquid hydrocarbons on Titan, formed from methane and other hydrocarbons in the mostly nitrogen atmosphere. Cassini will later release the Huygens probe to land on Titan | |
