Opportunity rover. 360-degree panoramic view of the surface of Mars taken by the Mars Exploration Rover Opportunity on 6 April 2004,the 72nd Martian day,or sol,of its mission. The rover is located at the edge of a trough called 'Anatolia',150 metres away from its landing site in 'Eagle Crater'. Tracks made in the Martian soil by the rover's wheels can be seen at left. Part of the rover's solar panels, its sun compass (black knob),and its low gain antenna (silver pole) can be seen at lower left. Opportunity, and an identical rover called Spirit, are studying Martian rocks and searching for water on the planet. This is a mosaic of 10 images | |
