Mud on Mars. Artwork of the surface of Mars covered in water and mud. Four billion years ago,Mars was similar to Earth but,for reasons not understood, there was a sudden change and Mars became a global desert. Mars could once again be covered in water if terraforming (making Earth- like). The first phase of terraforming would involve raising the temperature from around -60 degrees Celsius to a temperature at which the water on Mars would remain liquid. This could be achieved through an atmospheric greenhouse effect by using orbiting space mirrors | |
