Artist's impression of NASA's Extreme Ultraviolet Explorer (EUVE) astronomical satellite. EUVE will carry four UV telescopes, and will conduct a 12-18 month all-sky survey of extreme UV sources in space. Most extreme UV objects detected so far are stars in advanced stages of evolution, such as white dwarfs. EUVE was launched on a Delta II rocket on 7 June 1992,and is scheduled for retrieval by the Space Shuttle in February 1995 | |
