Human and monkey lung anatomy. Preserved lung bronchioles from a monkey (left) and a human. The models was created in the 18th century by French anatomist Honore Fragonard,at the Alfort National Veterinary School in Paris,France. The exact method of preservation used by Fragonard was a secret, but it is thought that the organs were first bathed in alcohol, then injected with wax mixed with turpentine. Fragonard produced over 3000 anatomical specimens in his lifetime. Photographed at the Fragonard Museum,Paris,France | |
