MODEL RELEASED. Incubating bacteria. Laboratory worker placing petri dishes in an incubator to culture human tissue samples. This is done to test for bacterial contamination. The petri dishes contain nutrient media on which bacteria and other micro-organisms will grow if placed in the right conditions. Here, they are being placed in an incubator at a temperature of 35 degrees Celsius, and with a 5% carbon dioxide atmosphere. These are subcultures, samples of micro-organisms found in earlier tests and which are now being grown further to aid identification. The tissues being tested range from blood to bone | |
