Mobile telephone research. Woman wearing electro- encephalography (EEG) equipment whilst using a mobile telephone. Cancer and changes in hormone levels may be caused by the microwave energy emitted by mobile telephones. A mobile telephone user absorbs about 0.1 watts of microwaves in their head. The metal electrodes in the woman's cap record the electrical activity in the brain by a computer in the background. During this experiment,a mobile telephone is used for 2 hours a day,5 days a week,for 1 month. The levels of electrical activity measured reveal how much a certain part of the brain is being used.
