Chlamydial infection of fallopian tube. Coloured Transmission Electron Micrograph (TEM) of cells sectioned in a woman's fallopian tube,infected with bacteria Chlamydia trachomatis. Spherical Gram-negative Chlamydia bacteria (green/brown) are seen at centre and upper left inside cell inclusions (yellow). Cell cytoplasm is pink; two large rounded cell nuclei (brown) are seen at lower frame. Chlamydia bacteria live only inside cells. Each bacterium has a double cell membrane. It causes non-specific urethritis (NSU),a sexually transmitted disease. The organisms can multiply rapidly in a woman's reproductive tract. Magnification: x4,500 at 6x7cm size. x15,000 at 8x10ins
