MODEL RELEASED. Phototherapy. Premature baby in an incubator receiving phototherapy to treat jaundice. Jaundice is yellow discolouration of the skin and eyes caused by the deposition of excess bilirubin (pigment) in skin tissues. The blue light causes a reaction which breaks down the bilirubin into a harmless form which is then excreted in the urine. The baby's eyes are covered as safety precaution.
