| Elephantiasis drugs. Woman holding elephantiasis (lymphatic filariasis) drugs in her hand. Elephantiasis is a type of filariasis,a disease caused by parasitic worms spread by blood-sucking insects. The worms block the lymphatic system causing fluid accumulation (oedema) and associated swelling of the lymph vessels. Repeated infections result in massive enlargement of the affected part of the body,which is commonly the limbs.
