MODEL RELEASED: The 'Visual Ear' in speech therapy. This is a computer system designed to assist speech therapy in hearing impaired clients. The computer uses neural networks to display a 'standard' map of the various sounds associated with a given word. The client repeats the word into a microphone, allowing the computer to display a map of their attempt. The client may then see how their attempt varies from the standard form, and may alter their next attempt accordingly. This system was developed by Dr Jake Reynolds (seen at centre),at the Robotics Research Group of Oxford University in 1992 | |
